Embarking on a spiritual journey to Adi Kailash and Om Parvat is an adventure that intertwines mesmerizing landscapes, deep-rooted traditions, and enriching experiences. Join me as I recount the itinerary of this sacred excursion, where spirituality meets nature, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Day 1: Haldwani → Pithoragarh (Approx. 220 km)

Travel: Pick-up from Haldwani

Our journey began with an early morning pick-up from Haldwani, filled with excitement and anticipation. The drive to Pithoragarh promised beautiful views, and it didn’t disappoint!

En Route Sightseeing:

  • Kainchi Dham
    We made our first stop at Kainchi Dham, a serene ashram located at the confluence of two rivers. The calmness of the place enveloped us as we sat for a while, absorbing the spiritual energy around.
  • Chitai Golu Devta Temple
    Next, we visited the famous Chitai Golu Devta Temple, known for its vibrant atmosphere and the countless bells hung by devotees. The feeling of devotion struck a chord in all of us.
  • Jageshwar Dham Temple
    Our final stop of the day was Jageshwar Dham, a sacred site housing ancient temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Walking through the complex, with its architectural beauty and tranquil surroundings, provided the perfect setting to reflect and connect with our inner selves.

Night Stay: Pithoragarh

After a day filled with divine experiences, we settled into our night stay in Pithoragarh, ready for the adventures that awaited us the next day.

Day 2: Pithoragarh → Dharchula (90 km)

En Route Sightseeing:

  • Mosta-Manu Temple
    This quaint temple dedicated to the local goddess Mosta was a delightful find. The surrounds were beautifully lush, providing a wonderful backdrop for some lovely photographs.
  • Kamakhya Devi Temple
    Tucked away in the hills, Kamakhya Devi Temple had an aura of mystery. The chants and offerings from devotees created a chorus of spirituality that was hard to ignore.
  • Chatkeshar Mahadev Temple
    Visiting Chatkeshar Mahadev Temple added to our spiritual odyssey. The temple perched on a hill provided breathtaking views, making the effort to climb worthwhile.
  • Nepal Market Visit
    A little detour to the Nepal Market brought a vibrant atmosphere. The colorful stalls brimming with local handicrafts and snacks took us back into the warm embrace of culture and commerce.

Night Stay: Dharchula

That evening, we reached Dharchula, our hearts full of gratitude for the day’s experiences.

Day 3: Dharchula → Nabi/Naplachu Village (80 km)

Travel: Scenic drive into the valley region

Awakening to a stunning sunrise, we hit the road again. The drive into the valley was nothing short of breathtaking, filled with majestic mountain views and the gentle sound of flowing rivers.

Night Stay: Nabi/Naplachu Village

Upon reaching Nabi, we found ourselves in a tranquil homestay, surrounded by the beauty of nature. The night promised to be peaceful, setting the tone for our big adventure the following day.

Day 4: Adi Kailash Darshan Excursion (50 km round trip)

Sightseeing:

  • Manokamna Temple (Nabi)
    Our hearts filled with hope as we visited Manokamna Temple. The atmosphere was charged with devotion, and many prayers were being offered.
  • Pandav Fort
    The ruins of Pandav Fort echoed the tales of the epic Mahabharata. Standing there, one could almost hear the whispers of ancient times.
  • Adi Kailash
    Finally, visiting Adi Kailash was the highlight. Seen from a distance, it stood majestically against the sky, beckoning us toward its grandeur.
  • Shiv-Parvati Temple
    This small but beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati captivated us with its serene vibe.
  • Parvati Sarovar
    A short trek brought us to Parvati Sarovar. The pristine water reflected the surroundings, creating a picture-perfect moment.
  • Gauri Kund
    A quick visit to Gauri Kund, known for its healing properties, enveloped us with feelings of rejuvenation.
  • Parvati Mukut, Pandav Parvat, Brahma Parvat, Bheem ki Kheti
    These sites, steeped in local legends, left us in awe. Each has a story to tell, connecting us deeply with the region’s spiritual essence.

Return: Back to homestay

As we returned to Nabi/Naplachu, we carried with us the memories of a day well spent in devotion and discovery.

Night Stay: Nabi/Naplachu Village

Another peaceful night in the village allowed us to reflect on our spiritual connections and adventure.

Day 5: Om Parvat & Kailash Mansarovar Aerial View → Return to Pithoragarh (190 km)

Sightseeing:

  • Kali Mata Temple (Kalapani)
    Our next spiritual destination was Kali Mata Temple at Kalapani, where we offered our prayers surrounded by the majesty of the mountains.
  • Origin of Kali River
    Learning about the origin of the Kali River added a sense of awe to our trip. Nature’s power is truly something to respect.
  • Shesh Naag Parvat
    A quick stop at Shesh Naag Parvat reminded us of the larger-than-life narratives found in Indian mythology.
  • Ved Vyas Cave
    The cave where the ancient sage Ved Vyas is said to have meditated provided a deep sense of history and spirituality.
  • Om Parvat
    Seeing Om Parvat from a distance was miraculous. The shape resembling the sacred ‘Om’ symbol filled our hearts with peace.
  • Nabi Dhang
    A scenic lookout at Nabi Dhang offered stunning views, allowing for one last look at the beautiful landscapes we encountered.
  • Aerial View of Kailash Mansarovar from Old Lipulekh Pass
    The aerial view of Kailash Mansarovar was nothing short of exhilarating. It is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, and seeing it from above felt enchanted and spiritual.

Night Stay: Pithoragarh

We returned to Pithoragarh with hearts filled with joy, ready to recount the adventures of our journey.

Day 6: Pithoragarh → Haldwani (220 km)

Drop-off: Return journey to Haldwani
